The Journal was founded in 1965. It publishes the results of studies, conducted at The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (or other Belarusian and foreign science institutions and universities) in the main branches of chemistry. The Journal is included in The List of Journals for Publication of the Results of Dissertation Research in the Republic of Belarus and in the database of Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI).

The editorial board is represented by authoritative Belarusian scientists. As a rule, the Head is Academician-Secretary of the Department of Chemistry and Earth Sciences of the NAS of Belarus (since 2010, editor-in-chief is Corresponding Member. S.A. Usanov).
